Ukraine has stopped Russian Gas transmission line flowing towards Europe from Sokhranivka from Wednesday 11th April 2022. Statement comes from Ukrain’s Gas Transmission System Operator (GTSOU) on Tuesday. He further said that the flow will stop at 7:00 AM from Wednesday. The bold move from Ukraine Europe came after Russia occupying forces disrupted gas transit operation in the area. The move has the potential to disrupt gas supply in the very large are of the Europe if the alternative path is not found.
The Ukrainian
Government criticizes the Europe on gas reliance on Russia since the beginning of the Russian invasion. President Volodymyr Zelensky also accused European countries
for paying for Russian gas with Ukrainian lives. Ukraine has also previously
warned Russia that its occupation in its Luhansk region could disrupt the flow
of gas to Europe due to safety concerns.
Nearly
one third of the Russian gas headed towards the Europe from the Sokhranivka
which is an important point on the border of Russia and Ukraine, which is now
under heavy fire after the bold move from Ukraine. It has been estimated that roughly 33 million cubic
meters of gas flow through this transit route.
